Maria Young, LMFT 127020, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in private practice in California, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, and forensic child and family psychology.
She earned her B.S. in Human Biology with a focus on neurobiology from the University of California, San Diego. Following her graduation, Maria worked as a chemist, studying the impact of Alzheimer’s disease and synthesizing compounds for its treatment. Driven by her desire to understand her own mental wellness and that of other Asian Americans, where counseling and emotional expression are often not emphasized, she pursued a Master’s in Counseling Psychology. Maria's approach is trauma-informed, with an emphasis on family systems. With a strong background in science, a mindfulness practice influenced by meditation practice, along with her training in diversity, she brings a unique perspective and quality to her work.
